Split and Extract PDF Pages in Seconds

Splitting a PDF is one of the most common document tasks: pulling a single invoice out of a monthly statement, separating one chapter from an ebook, or carving a signed contract page out of a long agreement. This tool lets you do all of that without installing software, creating an account, or uploading your file anywhere. Drop in a PDF, type the pages you want, and download the result.

Because every step happens client-side in your browser, the tool is fast and completely private. Confidential contracts, medical records, and financial statements never touch a server, so there is no risk of them being intercepted, logged, or retained.

How to Use the PDF Splitter

  • Upload your PDF — drag and drop it onto the drop zone or click Choose File. The tool instantly reads and displays the total page count.
  • Enter the pages — use a flexible syntax like 1-3, 5, 8-10. Open-ended ranges such as 7- (page 7 to the end) and -3 (pages 1 to 3) are supported, and the order you type is preserved in the output.
  • Choose how to save — combine the selected pages into one new PDF, or export each page as its own separate file.

Private by Design

Unlike most online PDF services, this splitter performs all processing locally using the open-source pdf-lib JavaScript library. Nothing is sent over the network, nothing is stored, and the tool works offline once loaded. That makes it ideal for sensitive documents where privacy matters as much as convenience. When you need to combine files back together or remove pages, the related tools below pick up where this one leaves off.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I select which pages to extract?

Type the pages you want into the input box using commas and hyphens. For example, "1-3, 5, 8-10" extracts pages 1 through 3, page 5, and pages 8 through 10. You can also use open-ended ranges: "7-" means page 7 to the last page, and "-3" means pages 1 to 3. The tool validates your input live and shows exactly how many pages will be extracted before you save.

What is the difference between the two export buttons?

"Extract to new PDF" combines all the pages you selected, in the order you entered them, into a single new PDF called extracted.pdf. "Each page as a separate file" instead downloads one PDF per selected page, named page-1.pdf, page-3.pdf, and so on. Use the first to keep a chapter together and the second when you need individual single-page documents.

Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?

No. This tool reads, splits, and saves your PDF entirely inside your browser using the open-source pdf-lib library. Your file is never uploaded, transmitted, or stored anywhere. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads and the tool will keep working, which makes it safe for confidential documents.

Can it handle large or password-protected PDFs?

You can split PDFs up to 100 MB. Very large documents may take a few seconds to process because all the work happens locally on your device. Encrypted PDFs that require a password to open generally cannot be read; remove the password first using a desktop reader, then split the unlocked copy here.
